"It's just a stupid fetish". Your thoughts?

I agree with those who say it's mostly looks. I don't really base my interest too much on culture. While I like learning about differet cultures, I'm not gonna date a guy just for his culture :b. However if that culture directly impacts a person in a positive way (like how he treats his women! Hahaa) then that's a plus.

To be completely honest, I'd be hesitant to date a FOB for the very reason of cultures being possibly too different. Not only are cultures in Asia vastly different from culture in the states, they're different from my even deeper rooted native American culture. I'd hate to offend somebody or their family out of sheer ignorance.

We women know that men measure things differently. Always turn it so that it's convenient for them. But you know what, you need to be above that crap and stand for whom you are. A woman with the same rights!

For the fetish thing. I'm annoyed by ppl taking words in their mouth without knowing what it really means. Just try wikipedia or something else for the word definition "fetish".

Asian men are different for me. Like I am for them, it's the EXOTIC factor. It just happens that I'm more attracted to them than to other looking men. Of course it's just the look. Say it's superficial, but at the end it's always how you look. The law of attraction. Just think about that yummy piece of cake you love to eat. I mean, it's delicious for you and you eat it because you like it. ^_^ Now I want cake......><

The comment was in no way directed to you or your gf. Nor was it meant as an insult to the both of you or others. Rather it was a reflection of the strong reactions from the female members, where their feelings were probably shaped by comments from other males on their preferences. Hence the use of "bitch" is a mistaken belief that they are overreacting.

I've came across a lot of other Asian men-non Asian women website and in comparison this website is very tamed, in a good way.

I'm not attracted to an Asian man because he's Asian. Yes, I'm into Asian culture, and yes, i had my period of otaku-ness (sans the cosplay), but that has nothing to do with my liking Asian men. As an anthropologist, I hate objectifying a person or a culture, so you would bet that I would be offended if someone called my like of Asian men a 'fetish'. I get accused of having this 'fetish' for Asian men by both friends and family alike, but just because I like a member of another race does not mean it's a fetish. One of my guy friends who is African-American accused me of having this 'fetish,' but then when I turned the tables on him and told him that that meant that his like of white girls was a fetish, he told me that it wasn't, that it was "different." What made his like of white girls so different from my like of Asian men that my like would be called a 'fetish' and his would be considered not a fetish? I don't understand this way of thinking....

I always associated fetish with sexual connotation maybe because it sounded like that lol. I guess more or less it can be surmised as extreme addiction to a certain object or ideology?
