That is not a miracle, that change can be accounted to sheer will power. If you think it takes a miracle for a person to turn his or her life around then I think you underestimate the human spirit.

No I personally do not, but that doesn't stop me from praying in times of crisis.

Prayer: The admission that God had somehow arranged matters in a wrong way, not in your favor, yet having the arrogance to instruct god to rearrange such circumstances so they can then work on your favor.
The contradiction is thick here..

I don't pray to affect the law of the univers but it's more of a psychological reaction. Like I said, I know exactly where this thread is going.
A vegan, an atheist and a Crossfitter walk into a bar. I know because they told everyone.

I have no interest in knowing how this thread would end, I just want to know the justifications and logic behind supporting the belief in Miracles.
And if you foresee the end of this as a wreckage resulting from two trains in a head-on collision course, then I suppose it is a metaphor of Reason and Unreason being incompatible wherever, whenever.
And yes you are right, it is more of a placebo effect - praying. It is actually convincing yourself that you have done some good when you have done nothing. It gives you a feeling of righteousness, and maybe a measure of control, but really does not translate into the real world.

Whatusername wrote: Since you're so "scientific", you may want to read into the studies of placebo effect instead of throwing that word around like you know what it means.
I know what it does, it is a powerful thing, it is responsible for curing most of people's illness, just as loneliness and negative thoughts can drive a person to ill-health, which is the reverse of it. But again, it has its limits. You can pray all you want, but it does not affect a rampaging hurricane headed to your direction, it doesn't affect the urges of a psychopath to kill you and etc. I am trying to frame where placebo is relevant and where it isnt relevant.
