Chinese-mandarin. With such a large population and the way things are going, a lot of businesses will be done with the Chinese.

I am learning Mandarin Chinese. Why: I think it is a beautiful (and useful) language.

I want to learn Hokkien. Why: I think it would be fun and interesting!

Someday I want to learn Japanese and Korean. Why: To challenge myself.

Hokkien in Taiwan is universally known as ''Taiwanese''. I can't speak it, but i can speak the other language of Taiwanese minority, which is the ''Hakka language''. lol

Haha. Thanks for that. I forgot to mention, I would like to dabble in learning Hakka. :P If it is spoken in Taiwan, I want to have some knowledge of it, essentially. XD

Of course I'd learn all languages I could, but for now I'm learning Mandarin with simplified characters and of course the tones which can be very tricky! :pinch: I try also to see the traditional version of the character since here in Montreal most of things and newspapers are written in traditional because of the cantonese population on town. That eventually would allow me to continue the suspended study of japanese I did in the past.
As for other languages, yes Korean sounds very tempting since the writing system is one of the most clever I've seen!

I would also learn other asian languages if they are not "that" complicated and are leaner friendly... any suggestions?

well right now I'm learning Korean. next is mandarin :)

I just like to learn new things. plus I hear it's used more than Korean. I feel I was starting with the wrong language since it not really popular around my way.

Replied by Instant~Noodles on topic Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin) ,Korean, or Taiwanese ?
I wish I knew how to understand and read Japanese so I can watch raw anime and untranslated manga, and not have to wait for them to get translated.
