I planned on reading the books awhile ago, but school got in the way... so when the movie and the hype appeared, I figured I'd watch it.

Personally, I enjoyed it. I will admit, the director spent a huge amount of time on stuff that was boring and seemed unrelated to the concept of the movie, but I liked it. As for the books, obviously more detail and things that weren't included, but there were also some things they added to the movie that weren't in the book.

Buuuut you put "hot" guys in an arena who try to kill each other, and teenage girls go crazy for it. :D I just like the whole idea of kids killing one another, that's just me. Plus I fell in love with the movie soundtrack.

Dafuq? $5?! I had to pay $9.50 (student price) for a Sunday matinee. :(

I haven't read the book yet. My friend did and we both agreed that for it being "hunger" games, there wasn't exactly anyone starving to death. From what my friend told me, they all should have experienced far worse during the games. It was entertaining, but I did find myself wondering how long until it'd be over. So I guess that means it wasn't action packed enough.

Due to economic recession, there's a theater near where I lived advertise their 5 dollar Sunday and Tuesday as a way of marketing cheap movies while upping the price of movie food, also quite strict on bringing outside food lol. I figure it wasn't that much action to it, but the book is great though. The movie did an okay job presenting it with some loop holes as most books to movie have to offer. It's a nice pass time still with my buds while on the budget. :)

Watched that the other day. Enjoyed the books. For me the movie was like Battle Royale meets Dawson's Creek.

Katniss, hunger is not a game.

I'm a big fan of Battle Royale and I heard a lot of people saying The Hunger Games was a rip off before I watched it. To be honest I went in the cinema half expecting to hate the film. I don't think the comparison is entirely justified though. There's enough differences to make Hunger Games it's own thing.

Although the film had some dull parts especially in the beginning, I thought the film was pretty decent overall.

I do feel some injustice that the Battle Royale remake was cancelled because the producers thought everyone would think they were copying The Hunger Games. But considering most remakes maybe this was a good thing

The film was a wonderful breath of fresh air into the cliche-riddled genre of the teen-orientated action flick; opting for a stellar rather than A-List Cast (Tucci, Banks, Sutherland, even Lenny Kravitz), a brave shaky-cam filming device, subtly brutal, disturbing scenes (the kid getting his neck snapped, the opening onslaught), plus a strong willed heroine.

No other blockbuster film will match this in terms of intensity and sheer braveness of direction except for The Dark Knight Rises and the brilliant Tarantino's Django Unchained. Yup, not even The Avengers; why? 'cause it's got a couple of great actors (Downey Jr, Hiddleston, Renner, Ruffalo), some decent ones (Evans, Hemsworth), godawful Scarlett Johansson and walking cliche Samuel L Jackson. Plus they passed up Ed Norton.

Speaking of overhyped, I think Battleship is a massive contender for such a title. It's going to suck so bad.

not sure if you've noticed, but people have different tastes when it comes to movies. I for once, don't think Twilight was the BEST vampire movie out there, but I've found myself to see it more than once...

I haven't seen Hunger Games yet. I read the profile of the movie today though, and it seemed ok. I put it up for download. I'll let you know what I think of it later....

I remember I fell asleep to Pulp Fiction (it's possibly the most boring movie I've ever seen - and I KNOW that a lot of people will REALLY disagree with me on that one....) Now that was a waste - in my opinion
