Hunger Games: Why the hype? was created by Isaac4Yu
I just went to the watch the movie a couple days ago and it was bloody awful. 2 hours of boringness in which I fell asleep to twice. In fact, the movie is so bad I actually think Twilight is better, there I said it. I only say this because it's the only comparable book to movie franchise (although Harry Potter belongs too). Anyway, what's the hype? Are the books actually that good?

i personally thought the books were much better and more entertaining than the movie itself. Just my opinion though.

The hype is because studios want to find another multi-book franchise gravy train.

actually i haven't gotten around to reading the books yet (i've started the first book but i also have to read a shitton of stupid stuff for school), my baby sister has read them all and loves them, as well as a few of my friends that are my age who said that the books are sweet. but my sister went to go see the movie recently and also told me that it sucked. i suppose the concept of children having to kill children entering mainstream consciousness is intriguing a lot of people and hence the hype? i'm uncertain but i've been told that the books are easy reads (targetted for a younger audience) but has real reading value to it nonetheless.

That's the power of marketing, dude. For me personally, I'm not interested in that movie.

Problem is that I feel ripped off lol. This was just like how they marketed Twilight into looking like an action movie (watch the trailers if you haven't, it's ridiculous). The story intrigued me but I should have known better than to expect a really gruesome violent movie as I had hoped

Not to mention, this movie is like a rip off of the Japanese movie 'Battle Royale'.

This day and age, not much people read nowadays so I find it nice when they promote a book even thought it's strictly mostly for marketing and profiting but it's nice to see people reading. Reading for one thing broadens your vocabulary and writing, also fuel feeding stimuli for your brain.

I for one enjoyed it. $5 dollar movie day for 2+ hour movie. Sounds like a great deal to me.
