Yeah, I don't know if it's the young demographic here who's all about playing around without committing to anything serious, but it's hard to arrange meetups with people (men or women). Still, it's good to keep an open mind and get to know people, but don't spend too much effort on it, especially when you see you're incompatible in terms of values. Don't let the pursuit of a partner distract you from the more certain aspects of life.

So in short, be realistically pessimistic.

If I set my own standard at "Forever Alone" then I have nothing but a positive outlook with every new guy I meet.
WIN!

Question. This Forever Alone thing. I've often seen it repeated in other forum posts accompanied by a weird troll face. Is it some kind of meme? If so, how did it start?

disagreement on my side on this one. Then it would mean that you might end up with some pig who treats you like crap and still you would think that you're lucky

From past experience, I don't attract those types of guys. Must be my quirkiness, they just don't understand when I talk in code. This is with the few guys who even bother with me. So I think I'll be A-OK!

*Ahem* Instead of lamenting your situation, maybe follow this advice ~~

This is your LIFE. Do what you love, and do it often. If you don't like something, change it. If you don't like your job, quit. If you don't have enough time, stop watching tv. If you are looking for the love of your life, Stop. They will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, life is simple. All emotions are beautiful. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often! Getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them, so start creating. Live your dream and share your passion. LIFE IS SHORT.

WB Summer.

Agree with the sentiment. It's important to seize control of your own life and make it what you want. No one is going to hand you happiness on a golden platter. See my other thread on tactics uncompetitive guys (and really anyone in general) can use to live a happy and fulfilling life without being encumbered by relationships.

The caveat is not to let your happiness be dependent on another person, because you can never control whether someone else is interested in you. Trying to do so will lead to eternal disappointment.

Only a select few are lucky/hot enough to attract someone else equally interested in them.

Well, shows you my age and how unacquainted I am with pop culture and the internet subculture. I didn't even know such a site existed, or that there was such an extensive... spread of the meme.
