I know Hollywood and Disney have a.... eh let's say hit or miss track record with portraying/representing ANY Cultures/ethnicity that isn't Caucasian poorly. Relying heavily on stereotypes, troupes, or just being mostly historically inaccurate and making stuff up to build the Drama and suspense.
But I've seen the trailer and I Will be Damned to the Firey pits of hell below if that sh** doesn't look AMAZING. And relatively historically accurate (I don't study Asian cultures at all and even I could tell they made an effort to get that sh** right) AND. They didn't white-wash the Cast like they did with Ghost in a shell (I mean I Love Scarlett but out of All the Asian American actors in Hollywood they couldn't find ONE Japanese women to cast o.O really?)
And of course the message in the story is still intact.
Like the Trailer made me cry first time I saw it.
It's more serious and there's no Love story to distract from its true message.
I wish I grew up in a society where Honor actually means something, but it doesn't. I hear the word Honor and as an American Civilian who's never been in the Armed forces. That word has No meaning to me, it has No place in Today. There's no concept of that word, but when She is on that screen and I see her journey. They tell Her story, the Ballad of Mulan. I Believe.
Despite the fact that there is No evidence of a historical figure named Mulan there were a couple of notable female Worrior's in that era and the Ballad of Mulan is thought to be about those individuals.
"You will now take a Worrior's oath
Loyal. Brave. True." -Commander
"Your spirit is evident, but Something holds you back" - Commander
"when they find out Who you are, they will show you, No mercy" - Witch
"Yet here I stand, proof that there is a place for people like us." - Mulan
"I'm Hua Mulan, I will bring Honor to us all"

To be honest, I could care less if Hollywood wants to portray Asians in a weaker sense than Caucasians. They're going to do whatever they want to attract whatever audience that will get them the most amount of money.

Got to admit as well, one of the main attractions for me is the cast, especially Crystal Liu

The economy is fragile every day due to the impact of Covid-19, the recovery worldwide will slowly take time.
For me it is not a problem if it is postponed to May to September, the important thing is that it opens this year.
I have to admit, I am eager to see and enjoy the Asian representation in Hollywood, and especially to recreate a Disney classic on the big screen with real characters. Hollywood will implement strategies to attract more viewers that will allow them to obtain the greatest monetary asset to collect by wasted time.
Despite Hollywood's sexualization of asian women, asian women are often portrayed as career focused, delicated woman, cold woman and even asexual. Asian women are also prominently featured as asexual warriors many of the times.
The complete song collection to which it originally belonged has been lost. There are later Chinese poems and ballads by Fa Mu Lan. Currently, it is unknown whether or not the ballad has a historical basis on 花 木兰.
Through different tense, the historians, anthropologists, researchers have shared their points of view and it is not known if 「花 木蘭」 = 《雌 木蘭》 is a historical character or a fictional character.
At that time there were also notable female warriors, and that the ballad of 花 木兰 was written in their honor. Historical and emblematic figures as Fu Hao / 妇 好, Himiko / 卑 弥 呼.
The story of Fu Hao is an evocative source of the Hua Mulan legend, the latter story that also tells how a heroic woman became general of the armies of China.
I'm here temporarily, but I'm not from here. While higher your frequency, higher will be your conscience.

Midnight-Skye wrote: Mushy isn't in the remake. Initially that bothered me but I started treating This version like it's Own stand alone version instead of a play by play retelling of the animated version (like Lion King and Aladdin were)
Ahh really? I enjoyed seeing that creature a lot
