Fredt428 wrote: High School?! That's gotta be quite old for me, since it was so many years I left the High School. In my time, well basically we did have some groups or fractions; like they split up the students based on the status, result, sport and etc; such as the nerds, bullies, jocks (mostly those sport athletes), preppies (those rich kids), environmentalists (those who like nature and animals), and many more. So for me, I mostly fight against other clubs; such as Interact Club and PRS Club (Counselling Club), well it is more like competition to see which club organized the best event, and we always try to fight one another and avoid them to take our members away and steal our ideas. Yea, so club wars were always occurred during my time.
Club wars? That's interesting, did anyone ever join more than one club?

High school was pretty harmonious, it was a selective school, i.e. you take a test in elementary school to determine if you go there or not, so everyone was kinda in the same 5-10% ability wise. I really like that system because everyone was kinda in the same boat and it was not seen as "uncool" to work hard and get good marks. If you didn't get good marks at the end of the year exams, or if you misbehaved they wouldn't hesitate to kick you out, that was good because it kept the atmosphere and culture as one that was condusive to learning, if you didn't like it you could leave and go to a somewhere else.
One thing that I was not that happy with was the school uniform. Not that I think uniforms are all bad, like some other schools had nice uniforms that were more well made, like cloth blazers and nice skirts for girls, ours was horrible, it was very unfeminine and unflattering, especially if you were short and have a feminine shape, which was not good for my confidence. Our uniform was black trousers, shirt and tie (happend to be a mens tie but we still had to wear it) and a black round-neck sweatshirt, but they were made out of horrible cheap nylony stuff and were uncomfortable :/ Who ever decided girls should wear ties is crazy and also some girls with big boobs had to buy massive sweaters and look like they were wearing a tent lol.
As for the culture, the whole american high school on tv like with clubs, cheerleaders and "jocks" (whatever they are) really does not happen over here. If anyone has seen "The inbetweeners" that is pretty accurate really.
lol livie ... answers are too long but kool

Although some good things came out of it, it was indeed a living hell. Never worth going back there.
