Also David So and Ed Park explains on why KPOP isn't really Korean culture at 1:09:32
He is the reason why I know who Jinmin is, and KPop, really. *lol* Blame YOUTUBE algorithm....

Kpop artists are part of Korean society (at least most of them, even if they weren't necessarily born there), and so their views and perspectives are in some ways shaped by Korean culture - these perspectives then are expressed through their music.
I shouldn't even have to dig that deep. The most obvious to you should be the fact that they are speaking Korean. Language is obviously a part of culture. In fact, one of the most important aspects of a culture.
There are two types of people when it comes to listening to music. Some people just like the song, and that's it. It's a cool tune, they like how it sounds, and the hot guys/girls dancing on screen, and that's as far as it goes.
Then there are those who become interested in learning about the language because they like the music. From being interested in language, they might start looking into other aspects about Korea. History, tradition, food, other Korean music, topics about Korean society that might be in a song, and whatever else their interest, that started from liking Kpop, might lead them to. Obviously, you stated you don't believe this to be the case for most kpop fans - an opinion that seems to be based off anecdote.
And yes, Rainman, you sound like you're trolling. You literally called kpop marxist (people seem to love throwing fascist and marxist around these days), with no elaboration. Just a "you ever been to korea bro". I don't need to go to Korea to tell you that's a ridiculous claim that should be elaborated on before anyone actually entertains it.

I believe you. I'd like to get to the bottom of this pressing issue and have a follow up question.Rainman wrote: Read my previous post, stating that I visited South Korea.

If wearing make up and trying to look cute as pie is the definition of Asian male attractiveness nowadays, I'm honestly unsure of the future for Asian blokes with such western women. I'm sure any bloke into all that over the age of 16 is probably batting for the other side. If I ever had to conform to the above to get a shag, I'd rather be celibate.
As for the obsession with the music....I get the impression it's all a little bit shallow. I think many actually put the expectation of a Korean bloke to have a record deal behind him. Not that such deals are particularly great in actuality, as a lot of the celebrities over there have a bum deal with management controlling every aspect of their lives (including most of the money).
I think key values people should adopt from Asia (which seem all the more absent in the west recently) are not to find a kpop lookalike, but more idealistic ones such as being less selfish overall, and having respect for their family (including their elders and extended family). To Asians, whilst many are wealthy through discipline and wise decisions, family is all there is. You compare things like divorce and such in the west vs the east - the differences are truly staggering. People just don't try very hard anymore in the west and would rather chase superficial image/shitty values instead. I think that's the biggest cultural difference.
