I got my first tattoo today! It is to represent my twin nephews who are half Korean, half Australian, 100% the light of my life. It's the Korean national flower with two blooms from the same stem, with the Australian national flower intertwined. It represents the twin's heritage and is under my left collarbone, close to my heart.

I looked into color tattoo on dark skin. That was the most discouraging except for Red color doesn't remain as vibrant or show up as well on dark skin. I didn't want red just because it was the only color that works on dark skin -.-
I played around with a white ink tattoo but nixed that idea
I my head I had an image of a design that was more Amber... bronze maybe something that would off set and Accent my natural skin tone. Once I did all that I spent weeks looking at designs for inspiration and drew rough draft, after rough draft once I had a more clear picture in my head I took my rough draft
and went to shop after shop talking with artist getting and idea about pricing and what I could have in the way of color.
A couple of artist looked at me saw how young I looked and that I wasn't Heavily tatted to begin with and flat out refused to give me a face tat because it was a Job stopper. Others told me , any color outside of red wasn't advisable because it was fade fast especially on parts of the body exposed to direct sunlight often.
And then I was infected by the most damaging thought. What if my future partner, soulmate, meant to be whatever doesn't want me because I have a face tattoo??? O.O
People, myself included tend to walk around with this idea of what our ideal partner looks like. Most ppl image of their ideal partner doesn't include someone with a face tat. I mean the stigma against tattoos alone. I spent 6 months researching and throwing out drafts of designs talking to artist only to walk away feeling completely discouraged.
So I abandoned the idea telling myself I didn't want my future partner to reject me because of what I choose to do with my body, telling myself ppl will judge me etc. Told myself I was too young and tattoos are forever, I shouldn't do something that would make ppl think less of me as it is.
A year Into this mentality I realized I was letting fear dictate My life. I wanted the tattoo for Me not the world. How I feel about it the ONLY opinion that should matter. I am the Only who has to be at peace with it. I also came to see it as a filter, weeding out anyone who without knowing me would reject me.
The next issue I had to address was how to cover it up for work. Make up. And I'm a girl so I familiar with wearing makeup.
I got it as an early 25th BDay gift to myself.
It was honestly one of The most stress inducing decision I've Ever made.
This one actually is my first tattoo. Inspired by the cover of a fantasy book called Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr (not a book I recommend, but the cover was beautiful)
It was also around the time the show Supernatural brought Angels into the story and had this whole sympathy for the devil arc going on.
According to my research within the Christian faith when humans dies your soul goes to you know heaven or hell. But Angels are a separate created being by God. So when you die even if you go to heaven you won't be an Angel. And I was like well if I can't have wings when I die I can have them while I'm still on earth
