How do you celebrate your heritage?

I know to many heritage says alot and I love to learn about different cultures:) ! how do you celebrate your hertiage?

celebrate as in.... have a feast to remind me of my heritage?

I just skype with my parents... thats all the reminder I need

with pride.

I wish I knew exactly where I came from. All I know is that Im American and white.. :/ My parents are not even sure.... :/

February 27, is Dominican Republic independence day-there are festivals in Miami, Orlando, New York and Jersey that I know for sure. It's a day were rice, beans, fried chicken and sweet plantain is eaten, we drink a lot of Presidente, and we dance to old/new school merenge, bachata, perico ripiao. The country basically is party central from December 1-January 6 with a ton of religious as well as secular rituals and parties.
