Hi there, anyone interested in language and/or cultural exchange? I speak Cantonese, some Mandarin, one other Chinese dialect, and English.

Feel free to write here, or send me private message. Let's chat.

Cheers!

ok, i'm learning from the singer Zitao that he does not use the four different tones (in Mandarin) from what i can tell. he's very monotone. it is just his natural way of speaking. are people in China ok with foreigners not using those tones, because i have too many studies these days to get this particular thing right?

Without those tones spoken correctly, it can sound very strange. That's one of the main reasons foreigners have their accents in speaking mandarin, aside from a few others. however, they should be able to guess what you really mean mostly.

ok, thank you, this puts me at ease. now that i don't feel so pressured to get it right, i can maybe try to take things slowly and learn it the right way. i'll just be happy once i learn my first 2,000 words & symbols, because that'll make me feel like i'm finally making progress.

for some reason, when i hear Mandarin spoken in a monotone, it sounds like a mix of Russian, French, and Mandarin words and/or tones.

I would like to learn Chinese Mandarin step by step is a world language and short to speak, is complicated his writing..

I'm here temporarily, but I'm not from here. While higher your frequency, higher will be your conscience.
