I have been to Indonesia, Bali as well as Java including Jakarta. As it was my first time there I can't really tell you if anything has changed....Anything in particular you want to know?

every country has its good and bad areas.. You'll think its heaven and love it if you stay in a resort/retreat but probably not if you live like an ordinary citizen xD

Completely agree. A person can take a vacation (like a week or two on a tour or at a resort separate from the locals) to visit a country. Alternatively, a person can travel with no set itinerary and no schedule with the sole intention of immersing himself in the culture and the land. There are good reasons for each. However, I'd feel like a schmuck if I went around telling people I'd been to so-and-so if all I could recall were the pristine beaches, the all you can eat buffet, and the room amenities of the resort.
