french, spanish, or chinese. they are much more common. vietnamese almost no one that is not vietnamese speak it. japanese is not as common in the west.

i was forced to take spanish when i was in elementary which helped me somewhat in french when i was in high school but i kinda dont want to take those since i kinda met my goal to run into families that spoke those languages and somewhat understood them but i just want to take a language that maybe easier to speak and understand

then take vietnamese. only one syllable words, add one word to change from present to past tense, and present to future tense, grammar is extremely easy because there is almost non. If you have taken french, then the vietnamese sentence structure is very similar to french sentence structure. It's romanized. It's straight forward. It has heavy influence from english and french.

well. there are 1.7 million vietnamese in america, 600 thousand in cambodia, 250 thousand in france, 160 thousand in australia, 150 thousand in canada, 120 thousand in taiwan, 150 thousand in russia, 125 thousand in germany, 116 thousand in s. korea, 55 thousand in uk, and more in other countries such as japan, china, netherlands, belgium, denmark, sweden, norway, finland, ukraine, and much more...
