Why there so manny stereotypes about asians in the world ?

common stereotypes about Asians :
-They know karate
-They are awesome at math.
-They excel at some kind of instrument -- usually violin, piano, clarinet, flute.
-They are very studious and try hard to enter the medical field.
-They don't drive well.
-They have very strict parents (regarding school mostly).
-They have LOTS of relatives.
-They mainly eat rice.
-They watch a lot of Anime.
-Most girls in their childhood had a Hello Kitty obsession.
-They get straight A's and straight A+'s all through school and college all through their lives without nothing never ever less than an A+ and an A on their report cards.
-People think that most asians are Chinese
-They speak like CHING CHANG CONG

They are actually quite true for most FOB asian families. Confucianism plays a big part in traditional asian cultures.
And statistically speaking, most asians are chinese lol.

Probably from Hollywood movies stereotypes (Karate Kid, Kill Bill, Jackie Chan and Jet Li Movies etc) Not true for the most part.

Its true, but only because many Asian parents push us to study more.

-They excel at some kind of instrument -- usually violin, piano, clarinet, flute.
Similar to math, only this skill will get you the girls later in life...especially piano and guitar!

Refer to math statement. As for the medical field...I'm not sure about other Asian parents, but mine certainly wanted me strive to become a doctor...only I was a bit rebellious >_>

Im not really sure where this one came from, but it can be a bit annoying at times. Whenever im driving past a car accident, I pray to God that the culprit isnt Asian... LOL

Generally speaking...I'd say this is quite true. Even more so if you are an Asian girl.

-They have LOTS of relatives.
We breed like rabbits. Very true. Although the more recent generations tend to have smaller sized families (1-3 kids)

-They mainly eat rice.
Very true! And dont forget the noodles!

-They watch a lot of Anime.
Not true. Many Asians dont watch Anime. I guess people just assume it because its Asian and the type of people who normally stereotype, are the ignorant ones who classify all Asians as "Chinese"

Not sure about this one...however I do know that there are many teenage and young adult girls who are into it...so I wouldnt be surprised if this was also true.

Again, refer to the math stereotype above. However it would be very rare that even the best student would NEVER get lower than an A. Im assuming this stereotype started out of jealousy.

This one annoys me the most. Every time a non-asian person automatically assumes im Chinese, a cute little kitten dies. Again, this stereotype is derived from pure ignorance. On the other hand, when a non-asian person shows more knowledge in the variety of different Asian ethnicities, I smile a little

I wont lie to you, some Asian languages can sound very loud and assertive, however on other hand, some can be very soft and gentle. Of course this also comes down to the individual as well. This stereotype really just boils down to pure racism. Yep, these people hate/look down on Asians and aren't even worth your time trying to convince otherwise.

There are stereotypes for every single nationalty in the world. Why shoud Asians be exempt?

Every race and nationality is stereotyped by another race or nationality. Seems like human nature.

Most of them have a hard time believing that vietnamese uses the roman alphabet lol. And it is proven genetically that asians on average have the highest iq out of all the races, so some of those stereotypes could have derived from the truth. And strict parents is a culture, so I can't argue with that. Although modern thinking is sweeping into vietnamese families and a lot of friends that I have their parents aren't so strict and are a lot more loosen up, and I wish my parents are the same but they're simply too traditional. And you forgot the asians have small "part" stereotype
