K-pop is just pop in Korean language. I don't see why it should be called K-pop anyway. I'm not calling American pop A-pop. or Dutch pop D-pop.

in k-pop dance is even more important than singing or as important as singing. in american pop ( Justin Bieber) mainly the singing...

I pretty sure it's just a way (perhaps a lazy way) of shortening the word. It's easier and faster to say or write out K-pop or K-drama than Korean pop or Korean drama. Some people have just followed along and call it that, thinking literally that's what it's called because the term is so common outside of Korea...Like saying R&B rather then Rhythm and Blues.

If I ever say it, it's out of laziness, lol...so I can only imagine it's the same for many others.
